패러다임이란 특정 공동체의 구성원들이 공유하는 인식, 신념, 가치관들의 총체성을 뜻한다고 할 때, 종교개혁은 중세까지 공유되던 인식, 신념, 가치들로부터의 전환이요 그러했기에 새로운 시대로의 패러다임 전환이었다. 종교개혁이 무려 천여 년 간 지속되어온 하나의 시대로부터 새로운 시대를 여는 결정적인 변혁의 분수령이 된 것은, 이것이 단지 중세의 변질된 제도를 수정하는 표면적인 정화운동에 그치지 않고, 중세의 왜곡된 신학적 기초를 올바로 정립하며 이와 동시에 실천 전반에 이르는 총체적 개혁을 이루었기 때문이다. 이에 본고에서는 종교개혁이 예배의 영역에서 이룬 개혁에 대하여 현상학적인 관점보다는 사상사적인 관점에서 칼뱅을 중심으로 조망해보고자 한다. 이때 신학(theologia)은 곧 신+론(theos+logia)이며 실제로 신론이 신학의 출발이었던 바, 희생제로서의 미사가 개혁교회의 예배로 전환될 수 있기 위해 필요했던 신학적 패러다임의 변화가 무엇이었는지를 예배의 대상이신 하나님에 대한 지식(神論)을 중심으로 고찰하도록 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 본론 첫 장에서는 중세의 신학, 신론(theologia)에 대해 살펴보고, 다음으로 새로운 theologia의 패러다임이 된 칼뱅의 삼위일체론에 대해 다룬다. 세 번째 장에서는 그러한 theologia가 열어주는 새로운 하나님-인간 간 관계성 곧 페리코레시스적 연합에 대해 살펴보고, 마지막으로 칼뱅의 새로운 신학적 패러다임에 근거한 페리코레시스적 예배신학에 대해 고찰하도록 한다. 이를 통하여 로마 가톨릭의 미사로부터 개혁교회의 예배로 전환하는데 토대가 되는 신학 사상이 무엇이었는지, 그러한 신학적 각성이 어떻게 예배에 변화를 가져올 수 있었는지를 신학(lex credendi)과 예배의 실행(lex orandi)의 상호성의 견지에서 조망해 볼 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
Considering the word paradigm means the totality of the perceptions, beliefs, and values shared by the members of a particular community, the Reformation was a paradigm shift from the old paradigm shared by the people of the Middle Ages. The Reformation was the watershed of decisive reform that opened a new era because not only did it modify the corrupted system of the medieval church but also it holistically reformed both theological fundamentals and their practice. In this paper I try to look at the reformation of worship in terms of ideological rather than phenomenological aspects, focusing on the thought of John Calvin. Bearing in mind that the origin of theology is theologia, a compound word consisting of theos and logia, the subject of this study is the doctrine of God, who is worshiped. This paper studies the paradigm shift that occurred and begot the transition from Mass, a form of sacrifice, to the worship of the Reformed Church. To achieve this goal, the first chapter covers the theologia of the Middle Ages. The second chapter is about Calvin's doctrine of the Trinity; the new paradigm of theologia. The third chapter considers the outcome of the doctrine, a new relationship between man and God, in other words, the perichoretic unity. Lastly, the study concludes by studying worship theory on perichoresis, another outcome of the new paradigm. I hope this paper sheds light on the theoretical basis of the shift from the Catholic Church’s Mass to the Reformed Church’s worship and how the enlightenment could change the method of worshiping from the both viewpoints, lex credendi and lex orandi, at the same time.
