한국 특수교육(학)의 학문적 정체성 논쟁

본 연구는 한국 특수교육의 학문적 정체성을 밝히기 위해 먼저 상위학문으로서 사회학문의 정체성을 문제 삼았고, 이어 우리나라에 ‘한국 특수교육론’이 과연 존재하는지 어떤지, 그리고 한국 특수교육론 정립을 위한 주요과제는 무엇인가를 논의하였다. 우리나라에서 여타 사회학문 분야에 비해 특수교육학은 학적 연륜이 일천한 가운데 해외종속적인 수입학문이 주종을 이루고 있어, 소위 ‘한국 특수교육론’의 정체성은 극히 불투명한 면이 있으나, 우리나라 특수교육의 역사정립을 위한 몇몇 주목할 만한 연구가 수행되어 오기도 했다. 이에 본 연구에서는 향후 ‘한국 특수교육론’ 정립을 위한 과제로 한국의 역사성과 현실성에 천착한 다양한 연구를 기대하며, 세계 속의 한국 특수교육론 정립을 위해 유럽이나 미국중심의 특수교육 담론과 겨루면서 차별성을 드러내는 아시아 특수교육 학술담론 형성을 제안한다.
Abstract
Korean special education has relatively short history as an established study comparing with the other discipline in social science. Further, Korean special education greatly depends on theory and discourse of the developed countries such as the United States. Therefore, the identity of 'theory of Korean special education' is extremely ambiguous at present although have been remarkable studies for establishing historic identity of Korean special education for a few decades.For that reason, the purpose of this study is to discuss about the scholastic identity of special education in Korea. Specifically, three issues related to scholastic identity of special education were mainly addressed: a) identity of social science as a meta-theory, b) reality of Korean special education, and c) essential efforts for establishing Korean discourses on special education.This study tries to stimulate a variety of studies on the basis of history and reality of Korea as an essential effort of establishing theory and discourse of special education. Moreover, this study suggests that we need to play a leading role of making distinctive scholastic network and discourses about Asian special education which can be competitively comparing with European or American based scholastic discourses.
