Abstract
[Purpose] This study aims to explore effective support measures for teachers of children with developmental delays by analyzing their perceptions of professionalism and the challenges they experience in-depth. [Method] In this study eight special education teachers participated. Interviews conducted in a private kindergarten space were transcribed and processed using natural language processing techniques. Analyses included word frequency, TF-IDF, sentiment, and CONCOR, revealing insights into teachers’ perceived professionalism, communication challenges with parents, childcare difficulties, and areas for improvement. [Results] The participants included eight teachers. exclusively assigned to children with disabilities. The interviews were conducted in a private space within the daycare center. The interview data were transcribed into text, and text mining techniques were employed to perform word frequency analysis, TF-IDF analysis, CONCOR analysis, and sentiment analysis. These analyses comprehensively examined teachers’ perceptions of professionalism, difficulties in communication with parents, challenges in the childcare process, and their improvement demands. [Conclusion] This study confirmed that special education teachers recognize the need for enhanced professionalism and strengthened support systems. Notably, teachers repeatedly highlighted key challenges, including difficulties in conveying children's current status to parents, understanding the children's needs, and the lack of support staff. To address these issues, policy measures such as strengthening teacher training programs, educating teachers on utilizing objective data, and expanding the allocation of support staff are essential. Furthermore, improving the quality of inclusive childcare centers requires fostering collaborative systems within institutions and creating environments where teachers can fully utilize their capabilities.
