Abstract
Purpose: This study examined the challenges and support needs of teachers working with young children with disabilities from multicultural families, aiming to identify effective strategies for inclusive early childhood education. Method: This study examined the experiences of ten Busan- based teachers in working with young children with disabilities from multicultural families. A qualitative method was employed to analyze their perceptions and needs, using data collected through interviews and subsequent expert reviews. Results: Teachers reported challenges including limited family engagement, language and cultural barriers, and the low level of professional confidence. Their support needs encompassed access to information, interpreter services, enhanced family collaboration, additional childcare staff support, expanded use of government programs, medical service linkage, and training in communication and counseling skills. Conclusion: The findings emphasize the necessity of strengthening collaboration between teachers and multicultural families and addressing systemic barriers. Customized professional development programs and supportive policies are critical to improving inclusive education practices for young children with disabilities.
