본 연구는 생명보험의 증권화가 보험시장 및 소비자 후생에 미칠 수 있는 영향을 살펴보고 있다. 이를 위해 계약자가 서로 다른 유동성 위험(또는 해약 위험)을 가지고 있으며, 보험회사는 해약으로 인해 유동성비용이 발생하는 상황을 가정하고 있다. 그 결과 보험전매로 인해 보험수요가 증가하고, 유동성 비용의 절감에 따라 보험자의 이익이 증가할 수 있음을 보이고 있다. 본 연구는 보험회사와 전매투자자가 서로 보완적인 관계일 수 있으며 보험전매로 인해 보험시장의 효율성이 개선되고 소비자 후생이 증가할 수 있음을 보이고 있다.
Abstract
We investigate the impact of life insurance securitization on the insurance market and consumer welfare. We suppose that policyholders have different liquidity risks(or surrender risk) and the monopolistic insurer incurs liquidity costs for surrender. We show that both insurance demand and insurer’s profit may increase by saving the liquidity costs. This study explains that life settlement can be a complement to, rather than a substitute for, the insurer. This study also shows that life settlement improves the efficiency of the insurance market and enhances consumer welfare.
