Abstract
This study aimed to classify latent profiles of creative-convergent cognitive competencies among nursing students and examine the relationships between these profiles and life-cycle competencies, collaborative social competencies, and information and technology utilization competencies. A self-report survey was administered to 310 nursing students at a university in J Province, and latent profile analysis (LPA) was conducted to identify the profiles. Differences between the profiles and influencing factors were analyzed using ANOVA and multinomial logistic regression. The results revealed three distinct profiles based on the estimated sub-factors of creative-convergent cognitive competencies. Significant differences were found in employment aspirations, academic year, age, class participation, major satisfaction, life-cycle competencies, collaborative social competencies, and information and technology utilization competencies. Academic year, major satisfaction, life-cycle competencies, collaborative social competencies, religion, and motivation for department selection were identified as key factors influencing the formation of creative-convergent cognitive competency profiles. This study emphasizes the need for competency-based teaching and learning strategies in nursing education and provides practical implications for designing competency-based education in higher education.
