오늘날 기후변화와 녹색성장이 화두로 떠오르면서 국가적인 사업과 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있고 이에 호응하여 학생들에게 환경에 대한 올바른 이해와 친환경적 실천 태도를 함양하기 위한 교육 및 이의 달성을 위한 학교의 역할은 매우 중요하다. 그러나 이러한 중요성과 필요성에도 불구하고 학교 환경교육의 현황은 어려운 실정이다. 중등학교는 환경교과를 선택하지 않고 초등학교는 재량활동으로 명맥을 유지하고 있으며 일부 환경교육 관련 중심학교나 선도학교 지정과 같은 단기적인 교육으로 운영되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 학교 환경교육을 단기적 교육이 아니라 지속적으로 시행함과 동시에, 학교 교육에서의 창의․인성 교육 강화 정책을 가장 효과적으로 달성할 수 있는 기초 교육으로 환경교육을 내실화하기 위한 새로운 교수 전략의 도입이 절실히 요구된다. 이 연구에서는 2009 개정 교육과정에 의해 올해 새롭게 적용되는 창의적 체험활동을 적극적으로 환경교육에 활용하는 방안을 제시하고, 사례를 소개하고자 한다.
Abstract
As the topics of climate change and green growth become ubiquitous around the nation, students' understanding of the environmental education is very important to cultivate eco- friendly attitude in schools. However, despite its importance and necessity, the environmental education faces a difficult situation. For example, the environmental education in elementary schools is only maintained with creative experiential activities. In contrast, we can see the very low selection rate for the environment subject in secondary schools. Therefore we recommend that teaching strategies be introduced to improve environmental education, which could be of great assistant to help achieve the goal of creativity and character education in schools. This study suggests of how the environmental education can actively utilize creative experiential activities of the 2009 revised National Curriculum, and introduces a case of the environmental education.
