Abstract

This study intends to inspect the social aspects of post-liberation period at the presenttime when expectations for the opening of peace regime on the Korean Peninsula are rising. Post-liberation period was a time of confusion and division, which moved backward to thepeace regime, with amplifying conflict between left and right wing. The Koreans, who wereseeking to build a new nation away from the Japanese colonial rule, immediately fell intochaos. At that time, the struggles between left and right wing was developed in both Northand South Korea. While the right-wing camp had a solid base of publicity in North Koreawhere the Soviet armies were stationed, left wing base was stronger in South Korea where USforces were stationed. This study seeks to examine what kind of struggle occurred betweenleft and right wing in South and North Korea where political terrain is different, and whatkind of regime emerged as a result. The search for a post-liberation period in which peace hasbeen eroded can provide an opportunity of reflection for Koreans at the present time whenexpectations for the opening of peace regime on the Korean Peninsula are rising. This studyintends to examine struggles between left and right wing in post-liberation period throughautobiographies and resumes written by peoples at that time and inspect what kind of divisionregime on the Korean peninsula emerged as a result.
