Abstract
This study aimed to examine the influence of supervisee developmental level and perceived supervisory relationship on supervisee disclosure in individual supervision, based on the two-dimensional structure of supervisee disclosure (supervision-related disclosure and counseling-related disclosure). To achieve this, an online survey was conducted with 252 counselors who held at least a master’s degree in counseling-related graduate programs and had received supervision from the same supervisor at least three times. The survey measured counselor developmental level, supervisory relationship, and supervisee disclosure level. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 for descriptive statistical analysis, multiple regression analysis, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The analysis results showed that supervision-related disclosure of supervisees was not influenced by any subfactors of supervisee developmental level. On the other hand, the reflective educational aspect of the supervisory relationship had a significant effect on supervision-related disclosure. Otherwise, counseling-related disclosure of supervisees was influenced by counseling dialogue skills and humanistic and ethical attitudes, which are subfactors of supervisee developmental level. Additionally, the reflective educational aspect was found to have a statistically significant effect on counseling-related disclosure. Based on these findings, the implications and limitations of this study are discussed.
