Abstract

The present study aimed at identifying the mediation effect of supervisee's self-disclosure inthe relationship between supervisee’s perception of working alliance and counselor activity selfefficacy and, supervision satisfaction. The participants of this study consisted of 186 counselorswho have practiced counseling at various institutions such as university counseling centers, private agencies, and public agencies. They all have experienced supervision on theircounseling practice at the time of the survey. Results indicated that, first, five positive correlations in the supervisee's perception of workingalliance, self-disclosure, counselor activity self efficacy, supervision satisfaction are found. Second, supervisee's self-disclosure had a mediation effect on the relationship betweensupervisee's perception of working alliance and counselor activity self efficacy and supervisionsatisfaction. In other words, supervisee's perception of working alliance had a direct effect onthe counselor activity self efficacy and supervision satisfaction; moreover, there was an indirecteffect between their relationship through self-disclosure as a mediator. Furthermore, the directeffect of supervisee's perception of working alliance on the supervisee's counselor activity selfefficacy and supervision satisfaction was less than the mediation effect of supervisee'sself-disclosure on the relationship between the working alliance and the supervisee's counseloractivity self efficacy and supervision satisfaction. The implication of this study is that not only the supervision working alliance itself isimportant to improve to supervision satisfaction, but also the supervisee's self-disclosure should be facilitated by supervisors in order to enhance supervisee's counselor activity selfefficacy as well as supervision satisfaction.
