상담학 분야 메타분석의 방법론적 탐색과 고찰

본 연구는 상담학 분야의 메타분석 연구물들을 종합하여 그 현황 및 질을 평가하고 추후 연구 방향에 대해 고찰하기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 이를 위해 상담학 분야의 주요 학술지인 ‘상담학연구’와 ‘한국심리학회지:상담 및 심리치료’를 대상으로 2024년 5월까지 발간된 메타분석 연구물들을 수집하였다. 이 과정에서 총 56편의 메타분석 연구물이 수집되었으며, 이 연구물의 특성을 AMSTAR-2 및 PRISMA 가이드라인에 따라 분석하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 분석 대상 논문의 약 80%가 2013년 이후에 출간되었을 만큼 최근 10년 내 상담학 분야의 메타분석이 활발히 수행되고 있었다. 둘째, 분석 대상 논문의 약 55%는 특정 개입이나 처치의 효과성을 확인하는 효과 메타분석(Effect Size Meta-Analysis)으로 나타났으며 나머지 45%는 특정 변인과 관련된 다양한 변인들의 관계를 종합적으로 살피고자 하는 관련 변인 메타분석(Association Meta-Analysis)으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연구의 질에 있어 문헌 검색 및 자료의 선택, 분석의 질은 양호한 수준이었으나 이해상충보고는 잘 지켜지지 않았다. 이상의 결과들을 바탕으로 근거 기반 실제를 위한 상담학 분야 메타 연구의 향후 방향과 시사점을 논의하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the current state and quality of meta-analysis research in the field of counseling and to discuss future research directions. To this end, meta-analysis studies published in major counseling journals, including The Korean Journal of Counseling and The Korean Journal of Counseling and Psychotherapy, up to May 2024 were collected. A total of 56 meta-analysis studies were collected and analyzed based on the AMSTAR-2 and PRISMA guidelines. The findings are as follows. First, approximately 80% of the analyzed studies were published after 2013, indicating that meta-analysis research in counseling has significantly increased in the past decade. Second, about 55% of the studies were effect-size meta-analyses examining the efficacy of specific interventions or treatments, while the remaining 45% were association meta-analyses exploring the relationships among various variables related to a specific factor. Third, while the quality of literature searches, data selection, and analyses was generally satisfactory, the reporting of conflicts of interest was insufficient. Based on these findings, future directions and implications for evidence-based practice in meta-analysis research in counseling were discuseed.
