Abstract
This article examines the oblivion of Being and, through this examination, seeks to answer the question of whether Dasein can be free from it. To this end, the article examines three elements in relation to this oblivion: first, objectifying representation; second, the self-concealing unconcealment of Being; and finally, the Nothing in relation to the oblivion of Being. Their relation to the oblivion of Being deepens as we move from representation to Nothing. In particular, the article considers anxiety as anxiety before the Nothing, affirming that the oblivion of Being is not the fault of anyone, but occurs historically. However, precisely in the awareness of this Geschick of Being, Dasein is not merely subjected to oblivion but, by enduring and embracing its wound, can open a new path. In this light, freedom is not an overcoming that erases oblivion, but a Gelassenheit that listens to Being while carrying this oblivion within itself.
