Abstract
This study aims to analyze the lexical characteristics used in Joseon language education for foreigners by comparing Joseon language textbooks with Korean language textbooks. For this purpose, the Joseon language textbooks were set as the target corpus, while the Korean language textbooks served as the reference corpus, and keyword analysis was conducted. The primary research method employed a corpus-based quantitative linguistic analysis, with keywords extracted based on log-likelihood values. The analysis results revealed distinct lexical and grammatical features in the Joseon language textbooks that reflect North Korean socio-cultural characteristics. In particular, nouns reflecting North Korean ideology and society, along with the frequent use of the hapsyo-che speech style (e.g., -습니다, 습니까, -십시오), were significantly prominent in Joseon language textbooks. Additionally, differences in spelling conventions were observed, as well as variations in the use of function words compared to Korean language textbooks. By extracting and analyzing keywords and their usage examples, this study provides insights into the lexical characteristics of Joseon language education, thereby providing foundational data for establishing an integrated language education policy and developing teaching materials that take into account the lexical differences between South and North Korea
