Abstract
Foreigners' whore and half-blood are the signification and symbol that prove the painful history of divided Korea, which is the minority/other/boundary person that Korean people want to hide. However, the attitude that Korean people treat them is antinomic. Accordingly, they were disgusting others as well as necessary evil. Also, Korean people are critical of half-blood. Most of the half blood were born between the U.S. army and foreigners' whore, and lived economicallysocially impoverished life. In the imaginary world of homogeneous myth, the half-blood were those who denied single-race country, therefore, they were always the poor relation. Half-bloods in Ju, myeongdeok's 『Mixed name s』(1969) show their anxious eyes as one. The half-bloods consistently showed alert eyes toward the camera, revealing anxious/impatient look. Their eyes sense the distance as the boundary persons, others, and minority. Lee, jaegab's 『Another Korean』(2005) shows a warm view on the half-blood and the other. In respect that they were not conscious of the camera in their attitude and sight, which is quite different from Ju, myeongdeok's photograph.Gang, yongseok's 『Dongducheon commemorative photograph』(1984) is a photograph of the military camp town at Dongducheon Bosan-dong, which shows national imbalance between Korea and U.S. through foreigners' whore and the U.S. army. These commemorative photos signify the portrait of weak sovereign country as well as the image of emasculated Korean male.
