디지털 네이티브 세대로서 초등학생들은 디지털 환경 속에서 학습하고 소통하며 정보를 교류하고 성장하고 있다. 디지털 도구는 초등학생들의 사회적 기술과 자아 정체성 발달에 긍정적 혹은 부정적 영향을 미치며, 디지털 사회에서 새로운 형태의 시민성인 디지털 시민성이 요구된다. 한편, 벌코위츠는 인격의 세밀한 요소들을 체계적으로 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 개인이 일상생활에서 도덕적 판단과 행동을 스스로 결정할 수 있도록 지원하는 실천적 접근을 강조한다. 그의 도덕해부학(Moral Anatomy)과 PRIMED 인격교육은 디지털 시대에 도덕성의 구조적 기반을 명확히 하는 데 큰 도움을 줄 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 벌코위츠의 도덕해부학(Moral Anatomy)이 초등학교 도덕과 디지털 시민성 교육에 어떻게 적용될 수 있는지를 탐구하고자 한다. 이를 위해 다음의 연구 주제를 고민한다. 첫째, 디지털 시민성은 어떻게 정의될 수 있는가? 둘째, 벌코위츠의 도덕해부학은 무엇인가? 셋째, PRIMED의 기본 아이디어는 무엇인가? 넷째, PRIMED을 기반으로 초등 도덕과 디지털 시민성 교육은 어떻게 제시될 수 있는가.
Abstract
As digital natives, elementary school students learn, communicate, exchange information, and grow within a digital environment. Digital tools have both positive and negative impacts on their social skills and identity development, necessitating a new form of citizenship- digital citizenship-in a digital society. Meanwhile, Berkowitz systematically analyzes the detailed elements of character and emphasizes a practical approach that supports individuals in making moral judgments and decisions in everyday life. His Moral Anatomy and PRIMED character education significantly contribute to clarifying the structural foundation of morality in the digital age. Therefore, this study explores how Berkowitz's Moral Anatomy can be applied to moral and digital citizenship education in elementary schools. To this end, the following research topics are considered: First, how can digital citizenship be defined? Second, what is Berkowitz's Moral Anatomy? Third, what are the fundamental ideas of PRIMED? Fourth, how can elementary moral and digital citizenship education be presented based on PRIMED?
