Abstract

The transition to the digital age requires a global citizenship that urges the ethical and responsible actions which are necessary to address global issues caused by digital technologies, not just reinforcing responsibility within digital spaces. Accordingly, this study theoretically examines the necessity of global citizenship education in the digital era, not limited to digital literacy or skills training, but grounded in the cosmopolitan perspectives of Nussbaum and Appiah. Furthermore, in order to develop practical approaches to global citizenship education in elementary moral education, this study proposes an integrated framework that connects UNESCO’s learning domains and core competencies for global citizenship education in the digital era(GDED), through cognitive, socio-emotional, and behavioral dimensions
