최근 급속히 일상에 침투한 인공지능(AI)과의 상호작용이 초등학생의 사고･정서･사회적 관계에 미치는 교육적 함의를 탐색한다. 특히 대화형 AI 확산으로 촉발된 의인화 경향이 아동의 자율성을 저해하고 도덕 판단의 외주화･책임의 모호화를 초래할 수 있다는 문제의식에서 출발한다. 아동기의 의인화를 인지적 효율성･정서적 보상･사회적 의존이 결합된 적응적 전략으로 본다. 이에 메타인지적 개입을 핵심으로 하는 A-E-S 모델(Agency–Emotion–Social)을 적용해 디지털 공화 시민성 교육 방안을 제안한다. 본 연구는 의인화를 단순히 억제할 대상이 아니라 비판적 공감과 학습 동력으로 전환하는 교육 설계의 청사진을 제시하고자 한다. 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학생의 의인화 현상을 설명하는 철학적･심리학적･뇌신경과학적 메커니즘은 무엇인가? 둘째, 초등 발달 특성을 고려할 때 디지털 시민성･AI 윤리교육은 어떤 핵심 역량을 중심으로 조직되어야 하는가? 셋째, 의인화를 비판적 성찰의 자원으로 전환하기 위해 초등 교실에서 적용 가능한 방안은 무엇인가?
Abstract
This study explores the educational implications of the rapid penetration of artificial intelligence (AI) into everyday life on elementary school students’ cognition, emotions, and social relationships. It begins with the concern that the spread of conversational AI may intensify anthropomorphism, thereby undermining children’s autonomy, outsourcing moral judgment, and obscuring responsibility. The study construes anthropomorphism in childhood as an adaptive strategy driven by the joint motives of cognitive efficiency, emotional reward, and social reliance. Building on this premise, it proposes an instructional framework grounded in the A–E–S model (Agency–Emotion–Social), which centers on metacognitive intervention and guides the design of digital republican citizenship education. Rather than treating anthropomorphism as a phenomenon to be merely suppressed, the study offers a blueprint for converting it into critical empathy and a driver of learning. Research questions: (1) What philosophical, psychological, and neuroscientific mechanisms account for anthropomorphism among elementary students? (2) Given elementary developmental characteristics, around which core competencies should digital citizenship and AI ethics education be organized? (3) What classroom-applicable strategies can turn anthropomorphism into a resource for critical reflection?
