A Study on Discourse Relation Annotation Schema for Analysis of Connective Phenomena: A Preliminary Study for Building a Discourse-Annotated Corpus

This study proposes a discourse relation annotation schema for analyzing Korean connective phenomena. Based on a critical review of major discourse relation models (RST, PDTB, and DR-core), it develops an annotation schema that reflects the characteristics of Korean connectives. The proposed schema distinguishes between event-centered and discourse- centered relations, with five subcategories: logical, temporal, contrastive, structural, and interactional relations. This work provides a theoretical foundation for building Korean discourse- annotated corpora and deepening our understanding of connective phenomena in Korean discourse analysis.
Abstract
