본고는 텍스트의 특성과 기술차원을 기존의 연구경향들로부터 ‘무엇을’(주제), ‘어떤 목적으로’(기능), ‘어떻게’(언어적 형상), ‘어떤 맥락에서’(상황)라는 질문에 관련된 기본 기술차원들을 유도하여 텍스트언어학의 현황과 전망을 탐색한다. 먼저 언어적 형상과 관련해서 하르베크의 대체이론을 살피면서 기능적 문장시점이론과의 차이도 밝힌다. 개별 문장들의 테마-레마 구조분석과 거시구조이론은 텍스트의 주제구조와 관련해서 몇 가지 중요한 문제를 던지고는 있지만 텍스트주제가 무엇이냐는 질문에서 한계가 드러난다. 브링커의 주제전개유형은 텍스트의 주제구성에 필요한 고정 지침이라 할 수 있다. 브링커의 텍스트기능적 분석방안은 전체로서의 텍스트에 기본 텍스트기능의 형태로 행위특성을 부여하고, 텍스트구조를 일차적으로 주제구조로서 주제전개의 특정한 기본형태에 기대어 기술한다. 텍스트전략 개념을 끌어들이면 구조와 기능의 관계를 최적의 텍스트기능 실현 국면에서 파악할 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper has examined the current tendency and perspectives of Textlinguistics, focusing on the characteristics of texts and description dimensions from the existing research related to the issues of "what"(subject), "which goal"(function), "how"(linguistic form), and "what kind of context." First, regarding linguistic form, R. Harweg's substitution theory has been considered and its differences from functional sentence perspective are studied. The structural analysis of theme-rheme of separate sentences and macrostructure theory raises several important questions, but the analysis shows its limit concerning what the text theme is. The types of Brinker's thematic development are strict reference for text's thematic construction. Brinker's text-functional analysis method provides the whole text with act character as a basic textual function and describes first the textual structure as a thematic structure, relying on specific basic forms of thematic development. The relationship between structure and function can be grasped while realizing the optima text function, if the concept of textual strategy is applied.
