Abstract
The purpose of this article is to describe the polarization of American politics and find Korean implications through theoretical discussions on the nature and solution of this polarization. the contents of this study are as follows. First, the research results of the Pew Research Center on political polarization (2017; 2014; 2004; 1994) were used to show certain trends, trends, and patterns of political polarization. the second is to view the nature of American political polarization as ‘ideological polarization’ and ‘emotional polarization’. Third, the character of the actor leading the political polarization was diagnosed as the result of the political polarization at the level of the political elite mobilizing the polarization of voters and the general public. Fourth, regarding the relationship between political polarization and economic inequality, it was diagnosed that political polarization led to economic inequality. Fifth, as a theoretical implication for improving political polarization, ‘deliberative democracy of convergence in the middle’ was presented as an alternative.
