본 연구에서는 동양의 운명 개념을 ‘하늘이 주는 가르침’으로 이해하고, 주역의 운명 이해와 신관적인 운명 이해를 통해 명리학의 사회적 역할을 검토하였다. 운명을 안다는 것은 곧 하늘이 주는 가르침을 이해한다는 것을 의미한다. 천인합일(天人合一) 사상을 특징으로 하는 동양사상에서는 ‘천명(天命)’의 자각을 중요한 가르침으로 제시한다. 하늘의 뜻을 알기 위해서는 먼저 인간 스스로를 알아야 한다. 미래를 예측한다는 것은 결국 하늘의 뜻을 예측한다는 점을 의미하며, 하늘의 뜻은 곧 오래된 인간사의 경험에 의해서 가능하다. 이를 철학적으로 함축하여 설명하고 있는 것이 바로 명리학이며, 명리학은 인간의 일을 통해 하늘의 명을 예측하는 것에 다름 아니다. 현대 사회에서는 이 명리학에 대한 올바른 이해를 통해 인간 소외의 문제를 극복을 할 수 있고, 생명에 대한 경외(敬畏)를 자각할 수 있다. 또한 잘못된 술수적 성향을 극복하고, 현대 심리 상담학으로서 명리학이 좋은 역할을 할 수 있다. 명리학을 통해 사람들의 불안한 심리를 위무(慰撫)해 주는 상담자로서 역할은 명리학의 긍정적 측면을 보여 준다.
Abstract
In this study, we understood the concept of Fate in the East as "the teachings of heaven," and reviewed the social role of Myungri Studies through I Ching's Fate understanding and divine Fate understanding. Knowing Fate means understanding the teachings of heaven. In Eastern thought, which is characterized by the idea of the harmony between Nature and Man, the awareness of 'mandate of heaven' is presented as an important teaching. In order to know the meaning of heaven, we must first know ourselves. Predicting the future means predicting the will of heaven in the end, and heaven's will is possible through the experience of old human history. It is the Myungri Studies that philosophically implies and explains this, and the Myungri Studies is the same as predicting heaven's life through human work. In modern society, through the right understanding of this Myungri Studies, we can overcome the problem of human alienation and realize the awe of life. In addition, Myungri Studies can play a good role in modern psychological counseling by overcoming false technological tendencies. The role of a counselor who soothes people's anxious psychology through the Myungri Studies shows the positive side of the Myungri Studies.
