이 글은 命理學에서의 ‘命理’와 ‘人性’에 대한 문제를 철학적으로 분석, 검토하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 명리학에서 다루고 있는 命과 선진유가에서 핵심적으로 다루고 있는 性과 命을 분석하고, 그 둘의 관계를 살펴보고 이를 통해 명리학에서 말하는 인간존재의 의미를 해명하려고 하였다.命이란 개념은 인간이 살아가는 데 있어 가장 관심을 갖고 끊임없이 묻고 대답할 수밖에 없는 문제이다. 명리학에서 다루고 있는 命에는 길흉화복과 수명의 장단 등 어쩔 수 없이 도래하는 외재적인 운명과, 도덕을 바탕으로 한 인간존재의 근본을 파악하여 인간다운 삶을 살기 위한 내재적인 사명이 있다. 명리학계에서 다루는 命은 후자보다 전자의 의미가 특히 강하다. 하지만 인간 본래 性으로서의 도덕적인 命도 운명과 함께 명리의 命을 구성하는 중요한 요소이다.명리학의 이론체계는 天文과 음양오행론에 그 바탕을 두고 있다. 그런 점에서 본다면 명리학은 중국 고대 과학의 한 분야로 이해 할 수 있을 것이다. 정통 유가는 현세적이며 실용성을 강조한다. 명리도 실천적이며 현실적인 생활을 중시하는 데서 유가와 공통점을 찾을 수 있다. 여기서 논자는 유가에서 말하는 性과 命, 명리에서 말하는 命이 상통 할 수 있을 것이라는 확신을 갖게 되었고, 명리에서 人性의 문제에 접근을 시도했다.
Abstract
The objective of this dissertation is to philosophically analyze and investigate the issues of 'Myungri' and 'Humanity' in Myungri Philosophy. By analyzing Life and Nature which are intensively studied in Life and Confucian scholars of Myungri Philosophy and investigating the relation between the 2 factors, it tries to define the meaning of human existence mentioned in Myungri Philosophy. 'Life' is the concept which is inevitably questioned and answered with most interest as human lives. 'Life' studied in Myungri Philosophy is composed of exogenous fate in which ups and downs or length of life are inevitably decided and endogenous mission which intends to lead a humane life by grasping the fundamental of human existence on the basis of morality. The meaning of former part of life studied in Myungri Philosophy is stronger than that of the latter part. However, moral life as original nature of human being is also an important factor that constitutes 'Life' of Myungri with fate. The theoretic system of Myungri Philosophy is based on astronomical phenomena and the theory of negative and positive. In this sense, Myungri Philosophy can be understood as an area of ancient Chinese science. The orthodox Confucian scholar is mundane and emphasizes practicality. Myungri has common points with Confucian scholar in that it attaches importance to practical and actual life. Firmly believing that Nature and Life mentioned by the Confucian scholars correspond to Life mentioned in Myungri, the author attempts to approach the issue of humanity in Myungri.
