학교인성교육에서 지역사회 연계 현황 및 활성화 방안

Abstract

This study aims to explore the current situation of linking schools and local communities in character education in primary and secondary schools and to search for ways to activate the linkage between schools and local communities. To achieve this goal, the study conducted a literature analysis and focus group interviews(FGI). The literature analysis focused on the operation status of the character education network based on the “Collection of Results of Operation of Regional Unit Character Education Network”, and FGIs were conducted with teachers currently working in primary and secondary schools to listen to their experiences, reasons for linking with local communities, problems encountered during linkage, reasons for continued linkage, and opinions on ways to activate regional linkage. The results showed that teachers, students, and private sector stakeholders had the most participation in regional linkage activities in character education. The main activities included student character improvement activities, village competency enhancement activities, discovery and network building of local community resources related to character education, and school and teacher capacity building activities. The difficulties experienced in implementing character education in schools in cooperation with the local community include a lack of mutual understanding between the school and local institutions, differences in time and administrative procedures for cooperation between the school and institutions, a lack of understanding and participation of school principals, institutional directors, and stakeholders in local cooperation, and a lack of systematic support for the capacity of local governments and local residents, as well as a lack of systems and culture. To minimize difficulties in linking schools and local communities in character education in primary and secondary schools and to activate the linkage between schools and local communities, it was found to be necessary to simplify administrative processing in accordance with inter-institutional cooperation, establish an organization that plays a bridge role between the school and institutions, and expand schools’ support for the teachers who try to discover community resouces and link them to character education.
