본 연구는 TV중계방송이 올림픽 개회식 예술프로그램에 미친 영향을 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 먼저, 전통적인 올림픽 개회식의 제의적 성격을 살펴보고, 상대적으로 대비되는 TV중계방송 이후의 상업적 성격을 짚어봄으로써 개회식 예술프로그램의 변화 양상을 도출하였다. 연구 결과로는 TV중계방송의 영향으로 예술프로그램이 시청자 중심의 향유요소를 확대해왔음을 확인하였다. 향유 방식의 변화는 시청자로서의 향유자들이 영향력을 갖게 되었음을 시사한다. 다음으로 예술프로그램은 TV중계방송을 통해 개최국의 전통문화를 전 세계에 소개하고, 나아가 전통적인 요소를 집약한 형태로 재창조의 전환을 추구해 가고 있다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 또한 여기에 공연양식화로의 경향을 나타내고 특히 첨단기술이 도입될 경우, 예술프로그램에는 중계방송을 위한 가상공간이 연출되기도 한다. 따라서 이상의 내용을 종합해 보면, TV중계방송이 올림픽 개회식 예술프로그램은 대중매체로서 TV가 가진 영향력에 의한 대중화 추구와 공연양식화를 통한 예술성 강화의 두 가지 측면으로 귀결된다.
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to explore the impact of television broadcasting on the art program of the opening ceremony of the Olympics. First of all, it has been confirmed that art programs have expanded their entertainment elements due to the influence of TV broadcasting. Art programs introduce the traditional culture of the host country and attempt to recreate the traditional elements through TV broadcasting. On top of that, when the trend of performance styling is unveiled and state-of-the-art technology is introduced into art programs, a virtual space for relay broadcasting will be created. Therefore, the influence of TV broadcasting on the art program of the opening ceremony of the Olympics is summarized as the pursuit of popularization by utilizing the influence of TV broadcasting as mass media and the enhancement of artistry through the styling of performances.
