본 논문은 곽점 1호분(기원전 4세기 후반경)에서 출토된 과점초죽간 육덕(六德)의 1~10간에 대한 비평적 해설과 한국어 통합 번역을 제시한다. 형문박물관판(1998)을 기반으로 주요 학술 문헌(얀시쉬안, 리링, 류조, 과이, 천웨이, 스콧 쿡)을 종합하여 본문 구조를 재구성하고, 六德, 六位, 六職; 육덕(성, 지, 인, 의, 충, 신), 육위(父子·夫婦·君臣), 육직(使, 事, 率, 從, 教, 學)의 삼위일체적 대응을 중심으로 윤리적-정치적 틀을 분석한다. 특히 논쟁적인 해석과 여섯 가지 기능의 배치 및 식별에 주목한다. 본 연구 결과는 초기 자사학파의 역할 윤리를 뒷받침하고자 한다. 즉, 인(仁)은 내적(內的)이고 의(義)는 외적(外的)이며, 군주의 덕(德)은 예(禮)와 연결되고, 신하의 禮은 충과 연결되며, 남편의 덕(敎)은 치(治)와 연결된다. 이 텍스트는 예악과 형법을 체계적으로 종합하고, 능력주의적 채용을 규정하고있다. <오행>과 <중용>과 비교했을 때, 육덕은 형이상학적 윤리이념보다는 외적 사회 질서와 역할 기반의 윤리적 실행을 강조하며, 이는 초기 유교 발전의 뚜렷한 흐름을 시사하고 있다. 이 연구는 육덕의 구조와 교리적 특징을 명확히 하고, 앞으로 진행될 제11~49간의 논설에 대한 전체적인 해설과 <오행>과 <존덕의>와의 텍스트 간 분석을 위한 토대를 마련하는데 의의를 두고자 한다.
Abstract
This paper presents a critical commentary and a consolidated Korean translation of slips 1–10 of the Guodian bamboo manuscript Liu de (Six Virtues), excavated from the Guodian Chu tomb. Building upon the Jingmen Museum edition (1998) and collating major scholarly readings (Yan Shixuan, Li Ling, Liu Zhao, Guo Yi, Chen Wei, Scott Cook), we reconstruct the textual structure and analyze its ethical-political framework centered on the triadic correspondence among six virtues (sheng, zhi, ren, yi, zhong, xin), six social positions (jun, chen, fu, fu, fu, zi), and six functions (shi, shi, shuai, cong, jiao, xue). Our findings support an early Zisi-school role-ethics: ren as inner (family) and yi as outer (state), with the ruler’s de linked to yi (just allocation and appointment), the minister’s to zhong (self-sacrificing loyalty), and the husband’s to zhi (practical wisdom in leading). The text displays a programmatic synthesis of ritual-music and penal codes (li–yue with xing–fa) and prescribes meritocratic recruitment (liangcai luyong). Compared with Wuxing and Zhongyong, Liu de emphasizes external social order and role-based ethical implementation rather than metaphysical sincerity, indicating a distinct strand of early Confucian development.
