Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether college student interpersonal competence predicts changes in emotional problem/suicide risk group characteristics. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on emotional problems, suicide risk, and interpersonal competence among college students living in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. After selecting the final 354 people among them, research analysis was conducted using the M-plus 8.7 program. The specific research results are as follows. First, the number of potential profiles according to emotional disorders was found to be three. They were named the high-level emotional problem group, the intermediate- level emotional problem group, and the low-level emotional problem group. Second, as a result of classifying suicide risk groups according to the level of emotional problem, the number of potential profiles was classified into three. They were named the high-level emotional problem / suicide risk group, the intermediate emotional problem / suicide risk group, and the low-level emotional problem/suicide risk group. Third, interpersonal competence was found to predict changes in the emotional problem/suicide risk group. Among the sub-factors of interpersonal competence, the claim for rights or discomfort factor was found to be the most predictive of changes in characteristics of the high-level emotional problem / suicide risk group. In other words, the higher the claim to rights or discomfort, the higher the probability of belonging to the medium emotional problem / suicide risk group or low emotional problem/suicide risk group.
