Abstract

As demands for enhancement of consumer rights and interests grow, emphasis has been placed on the revitalization of local consumer administration which promotes equal distribution of the benefits of consumer administration and resolution of the marginalization of local consumers. In an era of municipalism, municipalities play a pivotal role in enhancing the rights and interests of local consumers. Therefore, the Ministry of Finance and Economy has evaluated the performance of each municipality’s consumer administration in order to breathe new life to nationwide local governments’ consumer administration that has been centered on local consumer living centers. This paper is designed to set out reasons for conducting analyses of local governments’ consumer administration, major contents of those analyses and policy effects. In addition, on the basis of analyses’ results, this paper intends to suggest possible ways to take local consumer administration to the next level.
