Abstract
Enterprises are transforming into skill-based organizations as the corporate environment rapidly changes. Organizations emphasize the importance of upskilling and reskilling to respond to changes in the HRD environment. Based on this trend, this study aimed to derive the skills required for HRD practitioners. The research analyzed the conceptual structure of skills and designed a skill modeling process. After conducting a workshop with SMEs, the final skills for HRD practitioners were derived. The results showed that skills can be expressed through the structure of value-based expertise, areas of duty, and job behavior statements. The skills of HRD professionals comprised 25 skills in total, categorized into 5 major job areas, and 15 duties. The high-priority skills were identified as ‘Deriving priority of educational needs through Needs Analysis methodology,’ ‘Planning and selecting solutions based on an understanding of HRD solutions,’ and ‘Identifying diagnoses and problems based on an understanding of customers and business structures’. Based on these research findings, implications for the practical application of skill concepts through skill modeling were provided.
