본 연구는 시진핑 실각설 담론을 분석하여 중국 권력위기의 구조적 불안정성과 그 지정학적 파급효과를 규명하고자 했다. 기존 연구가 권력위기 담론을 단순한 루머로 치부한 한계를 넘어, 본 연구는 이를 체제 불안정성의 징후적 신호(signal)로 재해석한다. 연구는 2022년 제20차 당대회 이후 2025년까지를 분석 시기로 설정하고, 웨이보·트위터·유튜브 등 SNS와 CCTV·인민일보 등 관영매체를 대상으로 사건연표 분석과 텍스트 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 권력위기 담론은 권력 집중과 정보 불투명성이 결합된 체제에서 반복적으로 재생산되며, 이는 중국 정치의 내재적 불안정성이 장기적 안정성을 위협하는 구조적 요인으로 작동함을 보여준다. 또한 이러한 불안정성은 대외정책의 변동성과 불확실성을 증폭시켜 대만해협·남중국해 긴장, 미·중 경쟁 심화, 동북아 안보의 경직화와 회색지대 충돌을 촉발하며 한반도 전략지형을 제약한다. 한국은 이에 대응하기 위해 외교·안보·경제·정보의 다층적 전략을 모색해야 하며, 특히 중국 내부 루머 담론의 면밀한 모니터링과 조기경보 체계 구축이 필요하다. 본 연구는 중국 권력위기 담론을 체제 불안정성의 지표로 규정함으로써 동북아 안보 연구와 한반도 전략지형 분석에 새로운 시각을 제공한다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the discourse surrounding rumors of Xi Jinping’s potential downfall to identify the structural instability of China’s political system and its geopolitical implications. Moving beyond previous research that dismissed such rumors as mere speculation, this study reinterprets them as symptomatic signals of regime fragility. The analysis covers the period from the 20th Party Congress in 2022 to 2025, employing event-history analysis and textual analysis of social media platforms such as Weibo, Twitter, and YouTube, alongside official media including CCTV and People’s Daily. Findings reveal that power-crisis discourse is repeatedly reproduced in a system characterized by concentrated authority and informational opacity, demonstrating how inherent instability functions as a structural factor undermining long-term political resilience. Moreover, this instability amplifies volatility and uncertainty in foreign policy, fueling tensions in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea, intensifying U.S.–China rivalry, and constraining the security environment of Northeast Asia through rigid postures and gray-zone conflicts. For South Korea, these dynamics necessitate multilayered strategies across diplomacy, security, economy, and information. In particular, close monitoring of China’s rumor discourse and the establishment of early-warning mechanisms are essential. By conceptualizing power-crisis discourse as an indicator of systemic instability, this study provides a new analytical framework for understanding the strategic landscape of the Korean Peninsula.
