1919년 4월 11일 中國 上海에서 大韓民國臨時政府(이하 임시정부)가수립되었다. 임시정부는 독립운동의 중심기관으로서 군사·외교·선전·교육·문화 등 다양한 방법으로 독립운동을 전개하였다. 1926년 한국독립운동계는 침체기였으나 한편으로 새로운 기운으로 새로운 운동을 전개하는전환점이었다. 이러한 시기에 사회주의자이자 임시정부의 요직을 맡고 있던 최창식을중심으로 『獨立新聞』이 발행되었다. 1919년 8월 21일 창간된 상해판 『獨 立新聞』은 발행 그 자체로 하나의 독립운동이었다. 국내외에 산재한 동포들에게 이러한 활동과 세계 각지에서 전개되는 독립운동을 소개하거나 국제 정세를 파악하여 전하였다. 일종의 상황 보도뿐만 아니라 독립운동의당위를 주장하는 논설, 연설문 등으로 신문의 지면을 구성하였다. 특히 임시정부의 추진 정책을 긍정적인 시각으로 바라보고 지지하는 논설문들을게재하여 독립사상을 고취하였다. 1926년 1월 1일 주필 최창식과 새로운 편집진은 『獨立新聞』 신년특간호를 발행하였다. 중국 상해에서 발행된 『獨立新聞』은 1919년 8월 21일창간 이래 1926년 11월 28일까지 총 198호가 발행하며 임시정부의 기관지 역할을 하였다. 심각한 재정난으로 발행에 어려움을 겪기도 했으나 임시정부의 중요한 선전매체로서 그 기능을 충실히 수행하고자 했다. 『獨立 新聞』은 임시정부 「公報」의 보조적인 역할을 한 한편, 일종의 기관지 역할을 했기 때문에 추진하는 정책을 적극적으로 홍보했다. 따라서 홍진과 안창호의 유일당운동 연설과 논문을 연재하기도 했고, 6·10만세운동연설회나 북경촉성회의 결성 소식을 알리거나, 중국국민당과의 연대를 소개하면서 여기에 협동전선운동에 대한 기대감과 지지를 투영시켰다. 이를 통해 독립운동가 또는 지식인, 일반 대중까지 모두 설득하는 역할을 수행했다. 『獨立新聞』에 게재된 각종 논설문을 통해서 당시 독립운동가들의 생생한 목소리를 조명하고 독립운동 방략의 구상과 계획 등의 구체적인 내용을검토할 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 민족협동전선운동에 대한 고민과 논의를 교환할 수 있는 공론의 장을 마련했기 때문에 민족주의라는 추상적인 개념은하나의 이념으로 발전할 수 있었다.
Abstract
On April 11, 1919, the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea was established in Shanghai, China. As the central organ of the independence movement, the provisional government launched the independence movement in various ways. In 1926, the Korean independence movement was in a recession, but on the other hand, it was a turning point to develop a new movement with a new energy. During this period, the 『Independent Newspaper』 was published centering on Choi Chang-sik, a socialist and an important position in the provisional government. The independence movement was to publish the Shanghai edition of the Independence Newspaper, which was founded on August 21, 1919. It introduced these activities and the independence movements unfolding around the world to Koreans scattered at home and abroad, or grasped and delivered the international situation. The newspaper’s page was composed of a kind of situation report, as well as editorials and speeches claiming the legitimacy of the independence movement. In particular, the independence ideology was promoted by publishing editorials that viewed and supported the provisional government’s promotion policy from a positive perspective. On January 1, 1926, the chief editorial writer Choi Chang-sik and the new editorial staff published the New Year’s special issue of the 『Independent Newspaper』. The 『Independent Newspaper』, issued in Shanghai, China, served as an organ of the Provisional Government, with a total of 198 issues from its foundation on August 21, 1919 to November 28, 1926. Although it had difficulty in publishing due to serious financial difficulties, it tried to faithfully perform its function as an important propaganda medium of the Provisional Government. The 『Independent Newspaper』 played an auxiliary role in the public information of the Provisional Government, while actively promoting the policy promoted because it served as a kind of organ. As a result, Hong Jin and Ahn Chang-ho’s speeches and papers on the Ilindang Movement were published in series, the news of the formation of the 6·10 Movement Speech or the Beijing Chokseong Conference was announced, and the anticipation and support for the cooperative front movement were projected by introducing solidarity with the Chinese People’s Party. Through this, he played a role in persuading all independence activists, intellectuals, and the general public. Through various editorials published in the ‘Independence Newspaper’, you can listen to the vivid voices of independence activists at the time and review specific details such as the plans and plans for the independence movement. In addition, the abstract concept of nationalism could develop into an ideology because it provided a forum for public debate to exchange concerns and discussions about the national cooperative front movement.
