이 글은 중세국어에서 선어말어미가 배열되는 순서와 원리를 제 시하였다. 선어말어미는 문법 형태소이므로 배열 순서의 일정한 위치에 서 문법적 기능과 의미가 실현되어야 한다. 중세국어에서 선어말어미는 {--}, {-시-}, {-거-}/{-더-}/{--}, {-오-}, {-리-}, {-돗-}, {-니-}, {--}의 순서로 배열되었는데, 선어말어미가 지 닌 문법적 자질의 통시적 변화로 선어말어미의 배열 순서가 변화되기도 했다. 선어말어미는 문법적 자질에 따라 문장 ․ 담화 구성 요소와 관련성 을 지니는데, 어간에 대한 선어말어미의 관여도 및 근접도는 어간에 대한 문장 ․ 담화 구성 요소의 관여도 및 근접도와 비례하며, 선어말어미는 어 간을 중심으로 객체, 주체, 화자, 청자 등 관련된 문장 ․ 담화 구성 요소와 대칭적으로 배열된다.
Abstract
This article demonstrates the order and principle of pre-final endings arrangement in Middle Korean. The pre-final endings are grammatical morphemes, and their grammatical functions and meanings must be shown at the regular positions within the order of arrangement. In Middle Korean, the pre-final endings were arranged in the order of {-zʌβ-}, {-si-}, {-kə-}/{-də-}/{-nʌ-}, {-o-}, {-ri-}, {-dos-}, {-ni-}, and {-ŋi-}. However, the order of their arrangement might have changed, due to diachronic changes in the grammatical features of pre-final endings. The pre-final endings are related to ‘sentence and discourse elements’ depending on their grammatical features, in which the degree of relevance and closeness of pre-final endings to the predicate stem is proportional to the degree of relevance and closeness of ‘sentence and discourse elements’ to the predicate stem. The pre-final endings are symmetrically arranged around the predicate stem, reflecting related ‘sentence and discourse elements’, such as object, subject, speaker, and listener.
