이 연구의 목적은 ‘손절’이라는 신어를 중심으로 이를 활용한 대 인 관계 표현을 탐구하는 데에 있다. 국어학의 단어 형성 이론과 대인 커 뮤니케이션 이론에 근거하여, ‘손절’이 경제 용어인 ‘손절매’로부터 유래 된 의미적 신어이며, 관계 종결 또는 쇠퇴기에서 보이는 상태이자 행위라 고 판단하였다. 담화에서 ‘손절’이 쓰이는 양상을 살펴보기 위하여 해당 표현이 빈번히 나타나는 온라인 커뮤니티의 게시판 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과 ‘손절’의 단독 사용과 ‘손절’에 다른 표현을 결합하여 사용한 양상 을 발견하였다. 그리고 이러한 신어들이 인간관계를 둘러싼 현재의 사회 현실과 동시대 언중의 인식을 보다 섬세히 반영하고 있음을 확인하였다. 향후 신어에 보다 진지하게 학문적·교육적으로 접근할 필요가 있으며, 그 러한 맥락에서 국어과 교육과정에서도 관련 내용을 보완할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore interpersonal expressions utilizing the new word "손절(sonjeol)". Drawing on interpersonal communication theory and word formation theory in Korean linguistics, we concluded that "손절" refers to a state and behavior exhibited at the end or decline of a relationship, and the word can be viewed as a semantic new word derived from the economic term "손절매 (sonjeolmae)". To examine the patterns of emergence of "손절", we analyzed bulletin board data from an online community, one of the most frequent venues for the expression. The results revealed several expressions differentiated from "손절" in terms of form and meaning. Given that these new words reflect the current social realities surrounding interpersonal relationships and the contemporary public's perception of them, it needs a more serious academic and educational approach. We suggest that Korean language curriculum should take this into consideration and supplement related content accordingly.
