여성 해방과 국가적 기획―북한 문학에서의 여성 재현최영석 이 글에서는 북한 소설에 나타난 여성 형상의 재현 방식을 살펴보고자 한다. 일반적으로 북한 여성은 법적으로 남성과 평등한 주체적 여성이거나 북한 사회의 가부장적 성격에 억눌린 피해자의 양 극단으로 이해되는 경향이 있는데, 이는 북한이 남한의 타자 아닌 타자로 이해되는 애매한 인식론적 위치에 놓인 것과도 무관하지 않다. 북한 체제의 수립기에 여성은 성적불평등, 식민 지배, 봉건적 신분관계 등 여러 억압의 중첩에서 일시에 해방된 것으로 재현된다. 여성은 국가적 변화 속에서 새로운 주체 위치를 얻게 되며, 국가는 젠더를 조정함으로써 스스로를 재구조화한다. 여성이 근대적 시민으로 규정되는 동시에 국가에 예속되는 것은 국가와의 성적 협상의 결과라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 북한 여성의 재현 문제를 다루는 것은 북한이 스스로를 정당화하는 담론의 핵심부를 바라보는 일이 되는 동시에 남북이 동시에 겪어온 근대적 맥락을 짚어보는 일이 된다.
Abstract
Women's Liberation and National Plan ―representation of woman in novels of North KoreaChoi Young SeokThis article examined the representative way of woman in novels of North Korea. That the North Korean woman has been interpreted as subjective woman equal to man in law or victim controlled by patriarchy is connected to the ambiguous epistemological position of North Korea, which has been interpreted as the other but not the other. Woman was represented to be suddenly liberated from overlapped repressions―sexual discrimination, colonial ruling, feudalism, etc.―in the formative period of North Korea. At this moment woman has a new subjective position, the nation reconstruct itself as gender settlement. That a woman has had at once a modern civil rights and a position subordinated to the nation is the effect of sexual negotiation with the nation. A study of representation of North Korea's woman aims at the core of discourse, in which North Korea justifies itself, and the context the Korean peninsula hold in common.
