Abstract
The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of mobile healthcare application use and SMS/MMS as physical activity intervention on the levels of physical activity(steps). The subjects of this study totaled to 119 individuals belonging to an age group between 20s and 40s with an average of 10,000 steps taken per week, they were divided into C(Control) group (n=29), A(Application) group (n=31), S(SMS/MMS) group (n=30), and AS(Application + SMS/MMS) Group (n=31) on which the 7-week intervention was conducted. Mobile healthcare, as a variable that affects physical activity of modern society, brings about diverse effects depending on its level of practicality. The synthesis of the application and the SMS/MMS found to be the most effective in increasing and be long-lasting the level of physical activity and in be long-lasting. In my personal point of view, physical activity intervention via Smart phone is worth its use in enhancing health and preventing illnesses of people in the 21st century. The Mobile Technology, in which South Korea has competitive advantage can be actively exploited in order to effectively aid people's well-being.
