Abstract
This study presents a scoping review of research on developmental rehabilitation service system in Korea to identify the current service conditions, major challenges, and implications for establishing evidence-based practice. Following the PRISMA guidelines, 45 studies published between 2012, when the Act on Welfare Support for Children with Disabilities came into effect, and September 2025 were selected and analyzed. The results are as follows. First, research on developmental rehabilitation services has steadily increased since 2013, with relative concentrations observed in 2015 and 2022. Second, studies involving human participants accounted for the largest proportion (66.7%), while research focusing on material or systemic components comprised 33.3%. Third, more than half of the studies (55.6%) examined developmental rehabilitation services in a broad or comprehensive manner, and among specific areas, art therapy was the most frequently studied (13.3%). Fourth, survey research was most common (40.0%), followed by qualitative (26.7%) and literature studies (24.4%), while only one experimental study was found. Fifth, the main research topics were user experience (23.1%), qualification management(17.3%), and experience of service providers (15.4%). Based on these findings, this study discusses tasks and policy implications for strengthening the institutional foundation of developmental rehabilitation service research, expanding field-based studies, and establishing evidence-based practice.
