본 연구는 로고스 찬가라고 불리는 요한복음의 서문(요한 1,1-18)을 인지의미론적 관점에서 분석하여, 해당 본문이 구성하는 복합적인 의미 구조를개념적 혼성 이론에 따라 도식적으로 설명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 포코니에와 터너의 혼성 이론의 핵심 개념들—입력공간, 총칭공간, 혼성공간등—을 정리한 뒤, 로고스 찬가 각 절에서 작동하는 개념적 투사 및 의미 정교화 과정을 구체적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 ｢말씀은 하느님｣, ｢말씀은태양｣, ｢빛을 증언함｣, ｢오는 주인｣, ｢입양과 출산｣ 등 주요 혼성공간들이 본문 전반에서 ｢현실공간｣과 ｢신념공간｣의 연결을 통해 복합적 의미망을 형성하고 있었으며, 저자는 이를 통해 독자가 스스로 의미를 구성하도록 유도하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 지연 기법을 통해 ‘예수’라는 지시어를 의도적으로 지연시키는 수사적 전략 역시 개념적 혼성과 깊은 관련이 있음을밝혔다. 이 분석을 통해 본 연구는 로고스 찬가가 단순한 문학적 서술이 아닌, 저자와 독자의 인지 구조 안에서 다양한 정신공간이 상호 연결되고 혼성되면서 의미가 동적으로 형성되는 텍스트임을 밝힐 수 있었다. 이를 통해 본연구는 성경 본문 해석에 있어 인지언어학적 접근의 가능성과 유효성을 제시하며, 성경 본문 해석의 새로운 방법론적 전환점을 제시하고 있다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the prologue of the Gospel of John, so called the logos hymn(John 1,1-18), from the perspective of cognitive semantics, aiming to schematically explain the complex semantic structure of the passage through Conceptual Blending Theory. To this end, the core concepts of Fauconnier and Turner's blending theory are first outlined, followed by a detailed analysis of the conceptual projections and meaning elaborations operating in each verse of the text. The analysis reveals that major blended spaces such as THE WORD IS GOD, THE WORD IS SUN, TESTIFYING TO THE LIGHT, THE COMING MASTER, ADOPTION AND BIRTH form a complex network of meaning by dynamically linking the reader’s belief space with the real space. The study also highlights how the rhetorical device of suspensio, or the delayed introduction of the referent “Jesus” plays a key role in guiding the reader’s conceptual integration. Through this investigation, the study demonstrates that the Logos Hymn is not merely a theological or literary declaration, but a cognitively constructed text wherein various mental spaces interact and blend, allowing meaning to emerge dynamically within the reader’s conceptual structure. The findings thus suggest the potential and effectiveness of cognitive-linguistic approaches in biblical interpretation, offering a new methodological turning point in the hermeneutics of sacred texts.
