오늘날 주일학교에서 이루어지는 주입식 위주의 교리교육은 청소년이 신앙의 삶에 대한 흥미를 잃고, 신앙과 삶을 조화롭게 통합하는데 어려움을 겪도록 한다. 이러한 현상은 청소년이 신앙 안에서 삶의 의미를 찾기가 어렵고, 청소년의 종교 이탈 현상의 원인이 될 수 있다. 주일학교의 역할은 청소년에게 교리교육을 통하여 복음을 선포하고, 청소년이 그 복음을 일상생활속에서 살도록 하는 것이라고 한다면, 오늘날 주일학교 운영 목적과 방향이더욱 분명할 필요가 있다. 이러한 관점에서 복자 카를로 아쿠티스의 성사 중심의 삶, 또래 문화를 활용한 복음선교, 타인을 향한 봉사의 실천은 주일학교의 청소년 양성 모델이 될 수 있다. 이를 구체적으로 실현하는 데 도움이되는 종교교육 방법론으로 토마스 그룸의 ‘나눔의 프락시스’를 활용할 수 있다. 이는 참여, 대화, 실천을 통하여 신앙과 삶을 연결하는 경험 중심의 교육방법이기 때문이다. 이를 통하여 주일학교는 청소년들이 자신의 삶과 경험을 통해 가톨릭 신앙 전통에 비추어 해석하고, 실천적 삶으로 이어지도록 도울 수 있을 것이다. 더 나아가 복자 카를로 아쿠티스처럼 성덕의 삶으로 청소년을 초대할 수 있는 새로운 지향점이 될 것이다.
Abstract
The reliance on rote-based catechetics in Sunday schools often disengages youth from meaningful faith formation, hindering the integration of faith into daily life and contributing to religious disaffiliation. This study identifies Blessed Carlo Acutis as a model for youth formation, emphasizing his sacrament-centered spirituality, digital evangelization, and acts of service, and proposes Thomas Gromme’s “Shared Christian Praxis” as a pedagogical framework to bridge faith and life through participation, reflection, and practical application. By integrating Acutis’ example with Gromme’s methodology, this study offers a transformative approach to Sunday school education that enables youth to interpret their experiences through Catholic tradition and cultivate a lived faith, ultimately guiding them toward a life of holiness inspired by Blessed Carlo Acutis.
