초록

이 논문은 마르크스의 정치경제학 비판의 관점에서 볼 때 마오주의는 21세기 동아시아의 포스트자본주의 대안이 될 수 없다고 주장한다. 마오주의 중국(1949~ 1978)은 자본주의의 한 변종으로서 국가자본주의 체제였다. 마오주의는 마르크스의 정치경제학 비판과 무관하며, 그것과 오히려 대립되는 스탈린주의의 변종, 즉 중국화된 스탈린주의로서, ‘노동자계급의 자기해방,’ ‘자유로운 개인들의 연합,’ ‘교차적·아나키스트적·탈성장 코뮤니즘’을 핵심으로 하는 마르크스의 포스트자본주의 비전과 정면으로 배치된다. 포스트 마오주의 중국(1978~현재)은 과거의 마오주의 중국과의 단절 혹은 부정이기는커녕 사회의 성격과 지배이데올로기의 측면에서 그 연속이다. 마오주의는 포스트 마오주의 중국의 사회적 모순의 일부이며 그 해결책이아니다. 글로벌 마오주의의 거듭된 실패의 역사는 마오주의가 21세기 글로벌 사우스의 포스트자본주의 대안이 될 수 없음도 보여준다.

Abstract

This paper argues that from the perspective of Marxian critique of political economy, Maoism cannot be a post-capitalist alternative for East Asia in the 21st century. Maoist China (1949-1978) was a variant of capitalism as a state capitalist regime. Maoism is also a variant of Stalinism, i.e. Sinicized Stalinism, which has nothing in common with Marxian critique of political economy. Indeed, Maoism is diametrically opposed to Marxian post-capitalist vision, characterized by ‘self-emancipation of working class’, ‘association of free individuals’, and ‘intersectional, anarchist and degrowth communism’. Post-Maoist China (1978-current) is not a break with the Maoist China of the past, but rather a continuation of it in terms of its social nature as well as its ruling ideology. Because of this, Maoism is not a solution but part of the social contradictions of Post-Maoist China. Given the history of repeated failures of global Maoism, Maoism cannot be regarded as a post-capitalist alternative for the Global South in the 21st century.
