This paper aims at pointing out the problems in the translation of Vico's Scienza Nuova from Italian to Korean. It explains at some length the historical background of the translating act of Vico's magnum opus, stemming from Jules Michelet. Then it enumerates the translation of Vico's Scienza Nuova into several major languages. Finally, it gets down to the actual predicament in making sense out of Vico's vague usages in Scienza Nuova.
Abstract
This paper aims at pointing out the problems in the translation of Vico's Scienza Nuova from Italian to Korean.
