Abstract
This study analyzes the transformations of South Korean far-right rallies during the eight months following the December 3 emergency martial law by employing the territorialization of far-right groups as a theoretical framework. It examines how far-right actors utilize spatial practices, differenciation strategies with other groups, and strategies of stabilization. Rooted in anti-communist ideology and intertwined with Protestant conservatism, the far-right constructs a religio-political identity that materializes in exclusionary spatial configurations. Through territorial strategies, they reconfigure the symbolic meaning of politically charged spaces and generate new social relations within occupied spaces. After December 3, these dynamics gave rise to novel forms of mobilization and spatial movement, particularly among younger generations. By theorizing territorialization of far right group as an analytical lens, this study extends far-right research beyond the previous focus on identity and media discourse, offering a framework for understanding the practical spatial strategies and evolving dynamics of the South Korean far-right movement.
