초록

The body is a fundamental concept that represents the essence of human be- ings. This study aims to explore the essence of developing a Body Quotient (BQ) as a preparatory step for its development and to propose fundamental directions. This study highlights the introduction of bodiness as a key concept that can en- hance learning capacity in all domains and realize the human image pursued in the present era. It also emphasizes that a BQ based on bodiness has the significance of providing a practical means for evaluating the overall capacity of the body and suggesting a developmental direction. Furthermore, the BQ in this study refers to an index of the bodiness, which includes the internalization of values through em- bodied experience, not just the physical body. It fundamentally differs from physi- cal fitness tests and motor performance evaluations that simply measure physical strength. The fundamental development directions for the BQ proposed in this study can be summarized as follows: Evaluation items: character, virtue, intelligence, creativity, and communality Design principles: comprehensiveness, practicality, and sustainability Components: cognitive, affective, and behavioral factors Assessment methods: a combination of written and practical assessments-practical assessment conducted through dance Interconnectedness: written and practical assessments are interrelated Focus: potential and developmental possibilities rather than current abilities Unlike traditional assessments that simply measure existing abilities, BQ fo- cuses on uncovering an individual's potential for embodied learning, promoting continuous assessment and progress tracking. By fostering embodied intelligence and adaptability, this evaluation tool can contribute to the growth of well-rounded individuals.
