본 연구는 초심상담자의 부정정서전염과 심리적 소진의 관계에서 공감피로의 매개효과를 검증하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 3년 이하 경력의 초심상담자 164명을 연구 대상으로 선정하였으며, 부정정서전염, 공감피로, 심리적 소진의 관계를 분석하기 위해 상관분석, 경로분석, 구조모형검증 및 부트스트래핑을 실시․분석하였다. 그 결과, 부정정서전염이 공감피로에 정적 영향을 미쳤으나, 심리적 소진의 모든 하위요인에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았고, 공감피로는 심리적 소진 중 정서적 고갈과 비인간화에 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 부정정서전염과 심리적 소진(정서적 고갈, 비인간화)의 관계에서 공감피로는 완전매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 초심상담자가 심리적 소진에 이르지 않도록 부정정서전염과 공감피로를 관리 및 예방할 수 있도록 하는데 이 연구의 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to verify the mediating effect of compassion fatigue on the relationship between negative emotional contagion and burnout in novice counselors. To this end, 164 novice counselors with less than 3 years of experience were selected as subjects for this study, and correlation analysis, path analysis, structural equation model(SEM), and bootstrapping were conducted to the relationship between negative emotional contagion, empathy fatigue, and psychological burnout. As a result, negative emotional contagion had a positive effect on empathy fatigue, but no significant effect on any of the sub-factors of burnout, and empathy fatigue had a positive effect on emotional exhaustion and depersonalization among the subfactors of burnout. In addition, in the relationship between negative emotional contagion and burnout (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization), empathy fatigue was found to have a complete mediating effect. Based on these results, this study is meaningful in that it allows novice counselors to manage and prevent negative emotional contagion and empathy fatigue from reaching burnout.
