North and South Korea have had different foreign language educational systems from each other since we were liberated from Japanese colonial rule. North Korea regards foreign language teaching as a means of advertizing Communism domestically and abroad and in addition, of introducing and understanding other cultures through the acquisiton of foreign languages. In this paper I compared the present educational situations of North and South Korea to that of pre-unification of Germany.
