부모화 경험을 한 초심상담자의 상담관계 특성 연구

본 연구는 부모화 경험을 한 초심상담자의 상담관계 특성에 대한 현상학적 연구이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 부모화 성인용 척도(PQ: Parentification Questionnaire) 점수 30점 이상, 상담 관련 대학원 3학차 이상, 상담 경력 3년 미만인 초심상담자 8명을 대상으로 이들이 경험하는 상담관계 특성에 대한 심층적인 탐색이 이루어졌다. 심층 면담한 자료를 Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구방법에 따라 질적으로 분석한 결과 구성의미 107개, 주제 29개, 주제군 10개, 범주 3개가 도출되었다. 도출된 결과에 의하면 부모 돌봄으로 취약해진 자기를 경험하며 성장한 참여자들은 돌봄과 책임에 대한 부담으로 상담관계에서 부정적 감정 접촉 회피의 특성을 나타내었다. 그러나 이들은 내담자들이 자기와는 다르게 살아가길 바라는 소망으로 상담자 역할 이상의 과도한 책임과 적절한 경계선 유지의 곤란 또한 나타내었다. 참여자들은 일방적인 돌봄 제공의 결과로 상담자로서 정서적 결핍과 관계 취약성의 한계를 인식하며 고통스러워하는 것으로 나타났다. 참여자들은 부모화된 내담자와의 상담 과정에서 반성적 자기 성찰을 통한 자성적 비탄을 경험하고, 수퍼비전과 교육분석을 통해 자기 문제를 인식하고 대면하며 자기 연민과 애도를 경험하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 과정을 통해 참여자들은 죽고 싶을 정도의 고통이었던 부모화된 자기 삶을 수용하며 돌봄 제공 경험을 상담 자원으로 인식하였으며, 내담자에게 좋은 대상관계 경험 제공의 노력과 주체성 회복을 위한 조력을 나타내었다. 이로써 본 연구의 결과는 부모화 경험을 한 초심상담자의 상담관계 특성을 심층적으로 탐색하고 드러냄으로써 부모화 경험을 한 초심상담자의 개인적 성장 및 전문성 발달을 위한 상담학적 자료를 제공하는데 의의를 지닌다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 논의와 후속연구에 대한 제언을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study is phenomenological research on the characteristics of counseling relationship of novice counselors who experienced parentification. For this, in-depth interviews for the characteristics of counseling relationship of the participants were conducted, and the participants were 8 novice counselors who received more than 30 points on the PQ(Parentification Questionnaire) and in the third grade or above of the graduate school of counseling and had less than 3 years of counseling experience. As a result of qualitatively analyzing the data from the in-depth interviews by phenomenological method of Colaizzi, 107 formulated meanings, 29 themes, 10 theme-clusters and 3 categories were derived. According to the results, the participants who grew with self-experience weakened by caring their parents showed characteristics of evasion of contacting negative emotion for burdens of caring and responsibility. However, they also showed excessive responsibilities over the role as counselor and troubles in keeping proper border lines for hoping their clients to live unlike themselves. The participants showed that they suffered from recognizing their emotional deficiencies as counselor and the limitations in their relational vulnerabilities. It was revealed that they experienced self-searching anguish through reflective introspection in the process of counseling with parentificated clients and felt self-pity and sympathy, recognizing and encountering their own matters in supervision and training analysis. Through this process, they embraced their parentificated lives which were suffering enough to die and perceived the experiences of dispensing care as resources for counseling, endeavored to provide experiences on great object relations for clients and expressed support to recover independence. Thus, the significance of this study is to provide counseling materials for novice counselors who experienced parentification to develop in individual and professional aspects, investigating in depth and revealing the characteristics of counseling relationships of the counselors. On the basis of these results of the study, proposals to follow-up studies and discussions were suggested.
