한국어 교육에서 교수 방법 적용의 실태 분석

이 글은 언어 교육에서 제기될 수 있는 교수법과 관련한 문제를 살피고, 이를 근거로 하여 한국어 교육에서 교수 방법이 적용되는 양상을 한국어 교육 전공 대학원생과 현장 교사들을 대상으로 조사하여 분석한 결과를 기술한 것이다. 여기서 교수 방법은 이론적 수준으로서의 접근법과 절차적 수준으로서의 교수법, 실제적 수준으로서의 기법을 포괄하는 개념으로 이해하였다. 한국어 교육에서는 전통적인 문법번역식이나 청화구두식 교수법과 같이 교사 중심적이고 결과 중심적인 교수 방법이 널리 적용되고 있으며, 교수 기법에서도 전통적인 문형 연습과 아울러 입력 강화와 같은 교사 주도의 입력 중심의 기법이 널리 활용되고 있다. 또한 교실 활동도 다양하게 적용되고 있지 않으며, 효율성에 대한 인식과 실제 적용의 양상이 일률적이 못하다. 이러한 상황은 교착성이 강하여 형태적으로 복잡한 한국어의 특성과 시공간의 제약을 받으며 주어진 교육 자료로 많은 양의 언어 항목을 다루어야 하는 한국어 교육의 현실을 반영하는 것이다. 따라서 한국어 교육에서는 전통적인 것과 새롭게 개발되고 있는 교수 방법을 조화롭게 통합하여 좀 더 적극적으로 현장에 적용할 필요가 있으며, 이를 위해 일반적인 언어 교수 방법에 대한 이론적인 통찰과 함께 이를 실제로 적용할 수 있는 능력이 요구된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to describe the actual conditions of the teaching methods in Korean education. For this purpose we investigated the aspects of appling teaching methods in Korean classroom by means of a survey on the scene of graduate students and teachers. In Korean education, traditional grammar-translation and audio-lingual method which have the teacher-centered and result-centered attitudes are put to practical use widely. And traditional pattern drill and input enhancement are used widely as a teaching technique of Korean classroom. Also the classroom activities are not applied to the face of awareness of the effectiveness and practical application. These aspects reflect the problems of the linguistic nature of Korean and Korean classroom which is restricted by time and space. Korean is very complex language for foreign students because of agglutinative morphs. And a lot of linguistic items are treated by the monotonous teaching materials. Consequently, it is necessary to be tailored with different teaching methods and yield a synergetic and meaningful results in Korean education. Therefore, we need the theoretical insight into the common language teaching methods, and the ability to apply them practically.
