이 논문은 부완창(卜万苍, 1900-1973)이 1931년에 감독한 『『도화읍혈기』(桃花泣血记)에서 복숭아꽃의 색이 눈물에 비유되는 양상에 주목하여 이를 공감각적 정동으로 분석한다. 나아가 이 영화를, 당시 대만에서 유행했던 영화 OST(original soundtrack) 「도화읍혈기」 (1932년 출시)와 연결하여 상호텍스트적으로 독해한다. 본 연구는 기존 중국 사회의 개혁과 근대화의 관점으로 중국 좌익 영화를 대륙의 문화 생산장 속에서 제한적으로 위치 짓는 관점을 확대하고, 식민지 시기 대륙 영화의 대만 수용과 영향 관계 및 양자의 문화적 접점을 탐색한다. 특히 영화 서사가 영화 주제가 대중가요로 구조화되어 의미망을 만드는 방식에 대하여 자세히 읽기로 분석한다. 본 논문은 자막 카드의 그림 이미지가 캐릭터의 성장과 존재성을 재현하고 있음을 밝히고, 영화 홍보용으로 사전 제작된 OST 슬픔의 구조를 분석하여 감정이 계몽을 목적으로 정치화되었음을 제시한다.
Abstract
Focusing on the analogy between tears and the color of peach blossoms, this article explores the ways in which tears are expressed in terms of the synesthetic aspects of affect and the structure of sadness in Bu Wancang’s 1931 film, The Peach Girl, in mainland China and the film’s original soundtrack, which was composed and recorded in Taiwan in 1932. By adopting an intertextual approach to the two texts, this study expands the scope of Chinese left-wing cinema studies beyond the boundary of geography and art medium for mutual cultural impact. This article demonstrates that the patterns and qualities of the pictorial images in title cards align with the growth of characters, thereby symbolically reifying their existentiality. Furthermore, the study analyzes the interconnection between the production of an original soundtrack as part of the film’s pre-release promotion and the structure of sadness from which to politicize the emotion for enlightening purposes.
