Vietnam has experiences of frequent wars and casualties thereby, because of its long struggles with adjacent countries like China, Champa, etc. Vietnamese has a strong pride in their own history. They use their pride for maintaining and developing the nation. In this respect, Vietnam has paid a great attention on the commemoration of historical figures by establishing public as well as private mourning facilities such as nghia trang liet si, dinh, den, mieu, temple, dai, tuong, etc. Vietnam, as a country which has had van mieu in order to memorize and worship Confucius and other ancient sages has a highly developed ancestor-memorial culture and customs. Its memorial ceremony takes the characteristics of strictness, continuity, traditionalism, communalism, popularity, etc. However, the fact that all the wars in Vietnam's history have been evaluated by its own ideological measure and all the victims of wars have been worshiped as patriots who laid down their lives for their country, shows a unilateral nationalism or Vietnamese ideology.
