브라우워의 철학에서 언어의 역할은 중요한 위치를 차지함에도 최근까지도 국내에서는 관련 논의가 전혀 없었다. 필자는 먼저, 언어가 정신 행위인 구성을 온전히 포착하지 못하거나 구성과 무관한 언어적 대상을 가리키는 경우에, 배중률은 유효한 원리일 수 없음을 주장한다. 그 다음 수학과 관련, 언어의 한계는 언어적 기호의 자아성 정도가 구성의 자아성보다 낮다는 사실에서 기인함을 보인다. 끝으로 필자는 브라우워가 제시한 다수화된 정신의 불가능성 논변은 언어의 한계를 지적하는 근거임을 주장한다.
Abstract
The role of language is so important theme in Brouwer’s philosophy. But We have not examined the subject until very recently. In this paper, I first attempt to show that the principle of excluded middle is unreliable in case that language either fails to grasp original mental constructions, or indicates the very linguistic constructions. Second, I argue the imperfection of mathematical language stems from the fact that the degree of egoicity of symbolic signs is lower than that of the mental constructions assigned to them. Finally, I argue that the Brouwer’s argument for the non-existence of other minds should be interpreted as evidence for the unreliability of language.
