매체 언어에 대한 연구는 말과 글, 이분법적인 차원을 벗어나 제 3의 매체, 제3의 언어로서 논의될 필요가 있다. 메신저 언어의 확장으로 서 유튜브 댓글에 대한 연구는 유튜브라는 전 세계적인 이용률과 확산을 볼 때 반드시 이루어져야 하는 연구이다. 손흥민 유튜브 댓글 8,000여개 를 분석하였다. 맞춤법 차원, 비언어적 차원, 신조어 차원, 메시지 차원, 종결형의 다양화, 비속어 차원, 그 외로 세분화해 분석하였다. 유튜브 동 영상 댓글의 특징은 유튜브 댓글은 공적인 성격을 갖는다. 유튜브 댓글은 텍스트 의존적이면서 독자성을 가지고 있다. 유튜브 댓글은 독백적이면 서 대화적 성격을 갖는다. 유튜브 댓글은 비동시적 의사소통 방식을 지닌 다. 유튜브 댓글에는 감정이나 의견표출형이 많이 나타난다. 유튜브에서 한류 동영상 댓글을 매개로 유튜브 댓글의 특징을 알 수 있고, 한국어의 확산과 영역 확장에 기여할 수 있다.
Abstract
Research on media language needs to move beyond the dichotomy of speech and writing and be discussed as a third medium and a third form of language. As an extension of messenger language, the study of YouTube comments has become essential, given the platform’s global reach and influence. This study analyzes approximately 8,000 comments posted on Son Heung-min’s YouTube videos, examining them across multiple dimensions: orthographic features, nonverbal elements, neologisms, message structure, sentence-ending variations, and the use of slang, among others. The analysis reveals several linguistic characteristics of YouTube comments. First, they possess a public nature, addressing an unspecified audience. Second, they are text-dependent yet autonomous. Third, they are monologic while simultaneously dialogic. Fourth, they exhibit asynchronous communication. Fifth, they frequently express emotions and opinions. Through the examination of comments on Korean Wave (Hallyu)–related videos, this study highlights the distinctive linguistic features of YouTube discourse and suggests its contribution to the spread and expansion of the Korean language in the digital era.
