초록
Morocco is distinguished by its diversity, owing to the cultural cross pollination enabled by its geographical location. It lies close to the Iberian Peninsula, open to the vast African Sahara and the Arab East. This positioning has had a profound impact on the country’s cultural, linguistic, and ethnic diversity, which includes Amazigh, Arab-Islamic, Hassani, Andalusian-Moorish, African, and Jewish components. In addition, over the past three thousand years, Morocco has witnessed the succession of many civilizations arriving from both the East and the North—such as the Phoenician, Carthaginian, Latin, Roman, and European—along with their respective cultures and religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The marks and legacies of these historical milestones are still deeply imprinted in Moroccan culture. As a country rich in spiritual and cultural heritage, Morocco has shaped its identity around a set of core values that honor human dignity and support social, intellectual, spiritual, and human rights aspirations. It has strengthened the principles of universality and human rights while grounding values of altruism and openness. In doing so, Morocco has proven its ability to embrace various cultures and peoples, all while preserving its distinct characteristics, which have enriched its human and intangible heritage.
